Transport to medical appointments for seniors, at a time you choose

Looking for Local Transportation Tonbridge, Malling and Sevenoaks? At Seniors Helping seniors, we are glad to help! Medical appointments can feel like a minefield, the stress of appointments, tests and consultations can feel upsetting, and worrying about transportation can make everything feel worse.

Transport services are available for appointments with hospitals, doctors, dentists, podiatrists or other medical professionals from the hospital, but that rarely takes the stress away because wait times are often long.

Stress can compound illnesses;  it can make healthy people unwell and increase anxiety. Waiting for transport to arrive during very cold or hot weather, alongside lack of food and drink can also lead to serious health problems.

A taxi is an obvious option. There are some amazing taxi drivers in the world!

Family and friends often offer. Sometimes there’s good reason to want to hold your own counsel and that’s where Seniors Helping Seniors excels.

We are so much more than a reliable transport solution

One of our clients said, “Very comfortable transport service to my hospital appointment with cheerful conversation along the way. The driver was kind, helpful and thoughtful. She stayed with me during my appointment and took notes to share with my family. I was so happy to hear that the same driver can accompany me to my next appointment.”

SHS clients can request to be collected at a set time and date from anywhere in West Kent and know that their mature and trusted companions will be there on time, every time. Prior to the appointment, the companion is introduced to the client – this enables the client to feel safe right from the start and bond with the companion.

You are guaranteed to have a companion carer who has undergone an Enhanced DBS check, is fully insured by Seniors Helping Seniors and has a fully insured vehicle.

Carers genuinely care about you and for you, and you will have peace of mind.

If you have regular appointments and would like the same person to take you each time, we will plan for you. If your appointment changes – and they often do – we will  accommodate.

Our companion carers will drive you to the main entrance to save excessive walking, help you in and out of the car, take you to your appointment and come in with you as a chaperone to support you if you wish them to.

Sometimes a second pair of ears helps, taking notes and talking on your behalf if you forget issues or become overwhelmed. The carer can support you to obtain medication and supplies ensuring you get home with all you need as soon as possible.

If you need a report of the appointment given to a family member after the visit, our carers can do that too. If support at home is helpful, we will stay with you to help. You will be fully supported and enabled during what we know can be alarming times.

Guaranteeing 100% confidentiality and discretion, your trip will feel and look like a trusted friend is supporting you. No uniforms, no badges on show, just a safe pair of hands, experience,  loyalty and total support.

There are no limits to the locations an SHS companion carer will take a client. If you need to go to your local West Kent hospital (Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Medway, Dartford and Gravesend), one at the other end of Kent or even a London specialist hospital, no problem.

You pay a flat fee for the companion’s time, mileage for the return journey and pay for any parking/expenses at cost. You will not have to fuss with cash on the day for fares, parking tickets and you will not have to make bookings and hang around. You can concentrate on being calm. You will be invoiced for the trip at the end of the month.

What about trips to non-medical appointments and for recreation?

Well, our amazing SHS companion carers take clients to hairdressers, to the seaside, to National Trust and historic property visits, on picnics or visits to tea rooms, to visit friends or relatives, to church, to watch the cricket at Lords or Canterbury and to community events. Our experienced companion carers are local experts and they have plenty of suggestions. Whenever you can think of somewhere you want to visit, just ask.
